Even if it is just for one night, Dave and I like to get away from it all. Lucky for us, some good camping can be found about an hour from the Jaw at Lake Diefenbaker.
We decided to spend one night out by the lake under the stars. We packed up the car with a few provisions and the tent, headed out for a quick prairie drive and then set up shop at a walk-in site near the lake.
We rushed through the set up so we could get more down time by the water. We sat in our chairs, not really saying much...just breathing deep and watching the mini-waves roll in. When we got hungry, we walked back to our site, munched on some soba noodles we had prepared earlier in the day and got a good campfire going (one of my all-time favourite things about being outdoors).
We have no idea what time we went to bed at, but we were cozy in our little home for the night and feeling that much calmer for having gotten away from it all...even if just for a night.
